Meet Claire and Lily Single mother Claire is a 29 year-old medical secretary from Appleton, Wisconsin. Since separating from her boyfriend of six years at the beginning of 2008 she has been parenting five-year-old Lily on her own. “The first three months were really tough,” explains Claire. “I took a new job at a clinic far from Lily’s day-care because I needed the money.
My break-up with Blake was still real raw and I was stressed out from working long hours.” The strain of working a new job far away soon took toll not only affecting Claire but little Lily as well. Teachers at Lily’s playschool contacted Claire about Lily’s noticeable change of character, her changes in behavior and picky eating habits. “Lily became withdrawn and angry, whereas previously she would happily play with the other kids at day-care. She also refused any food that wasn’t prepared by me.”

Claire and Lily worked with a therapist to devise a strategy of abandoned child single parenting. Abandoned child single parenting requires commitment, care and attention.
