Single Parenting

Single parenting can often be a hard task as it involves raising children solo. This can cause added issues to the family as single parents have to take on more responsibility.



With the resources and articles available, whether it is the mother or father it can help in the efforts of being a single parent to a child or children. A family in society is often seen as a mother, father and their children. Now days this is not always the case.

What about being a single parent? In this modern age, single parenting is now acceptable in our society. It is a term we used for a person building a family or raising a child without marriage or without the presence of a wife or husband.

Anyone can be a single parent depending upon the relationship you established with your partner. Parenting alone is sometimes caused by divorce. If the court finds the marriage unsuitable and no hope for reconciliation between the couple, the court has no choice but to grant the divorce.

Raising children alone can also be caused by the death of the partner. They often say that life is too short and no one knows when death will occur. A single parent who are widowed usually have a hard time of accepting their faith. A death in a family will often cause some stages like anger, denial, depression, bargaining, and the last is acceptance. These stages are also common to divorced parents.

Single parenting caused by adoption of a child are widely accepted these days. Most single man and women believed that singleness are their destiny but most them are only caused by their pursued career and disregard the idea of being married and having their own children until they reach maturity and become a good provider. Single men and woman opt to adopt to feel more complete.

A single parent who has chosen to adopt generally feel as though their life is incomplete without a child, this is realized when they are unable to fill a void in their life, a loneliness which money or a social friend network cannot cure. Even though they may not have a husband or wife their desire to raise a family of leads them to adoption.

They have realize that success has no meaning if there is no one to share this with. Single adoptive parenting is ideal also for those who are sterile people who are sure enough that can give and share their life to the children who needs loving and caring.

Being a single mother can also be caused by early pregnancy. This is often very common to teenagers, who become rebellious from their parents. They felt neglected by their parents not only of their needs but their love and attention that they expected from them. Because of this feeling of being neglected, teenagers learn to find and look for someone who can fulfills their needs for love and affection that commonly resulted of early pregnancies from their boyfriends.

Early pregnancy in life is very difficult to manage because what we can expect from teenagers are immaturity, inconsideration and unpreparedness to face the future. Because of immaturity, relationship of teenagers towards their partner usually ends early.

Many early pregnancies are committed by teenagers who are adventurous. They want to know everything and anything under the sun even it is far beyond the limit and their age. Being adventurous of teenagers can be good if they gain knowledge and experience from what they do but it can also harm them without them knowing. Teenagers who are adventurous of sex and relationships may result to early pregnancy that leads often to single parenthood. They even have no courage to make a background check of their partner.

How Society can help Single Parents

Bringing up a child alone is never easy. It drains the body, working like a dog at work, running a household, providing their children of all their needs, such as food, shelter, education, medicine and clothing. It also drains their mind by thinking for the betterment of their child from their spiritual, emotional, social, physical and mental behavior.

Single parenthood can change the personality of a person. Single parents often use different methods in molding the character of their child for they are prone to the attention bullies and criticism from other people. By learning how to deal and cope with the moods of their child especially if they are adopted will help the mother or father greatly. Children of single adoptive parents are characterized as doubtful and sometimes you need to show them your sincerity of having them in your life.

Single parenting needs to be understood within society so they can help to provide encouragement and support to the parent who has to bring up their child solo. People should accept that single parents are just as much of a family as those who raise their kids with partners. Like all children, those part of a single family who still provided with the same amount of love and respect. Understand the burden that being a single parent can cause is the first step in making sure that the right support, financially and emotionally can be provided to make that they are given the best opportunity to raise their kids in the same fashion as any other family.
